Every adventure segment is run by our in-country team with specialist guides – desert guides for the White Desert, climbing guides for Sinai, dive instructors for the Red Sea – without sub-contracting to third parties. The cultural circuit (Cairo + Luxor + Aswan + Abu Simbel) is the foundation; the adventure activities are bolted on per your interests. How to choose
Three pillars decide the shape – your activity priorities, your fitness level, and the duration you can commit.
Pick the moments you want most. White Desert overnight (Bahariya Oasis, 5h drive each way, age 6+ with normal mobility). Mount Sinai sunrise climb (4am start, 2.5h up, age 12+ with hiking fitness). SS Thistlegorm wreck dive (day-trip from Sharm, PADI Advanced + 30 logged dives). Hot-air balloon over Luxor (4:30am liftoff, age 8+ with parent). Combine two or three in a single trip.
Different activities have different prereqs. The White Desert + balloon are accessible to any age 8+ with normal mobility. Mount Sinai trekking needs basic hiking fitness and warm layers (4°C at the summit at dawn). SS Thistlegorm requires PADI Advanced Open Water + 30 logged dives minimum. We never put you on an activity you're not certified or fit for; we'll suggest swaps where needed.
9 days covers the standard cultural circuit + balloon + 2-day White Desert overnight – the lightest adventure shape. 14 days adds Mount Sinai trekking + Red Sea diving for the full sweep. We don't run White Desert + Sinai trekking in June–August by default – daytime in the dunes hits 110°F and the 2am Sinai start is too hot.
Cairo
This 15-day itinerary links Cairo, Alexandria, Aswan, a Nile cruise between Aswan and Luxor, Luxor and Hurghada, finishing in Cairo. We are a licensed Egyptian tour operator and we arrange all transfers, domestic flights and Egyptologist-led sightseeing. We do not run large coach-group itineraries; transfers and excursions are by private air-conditioned car with local guides. Unlike short packaged cruises, this trip includes full calls at Kom Ombo and Edfu and time on both Luxor East Bank and West Bank, plus two full days at the Red Sea for snorkeling and a desert quad safari.
BudgetNile (cruise route)
This 8-day guided Egypt holiday combines Cairo’s ancient monuments with a four-night Nile cruise between Luxor and Aswan. In Cairo, visit the Giza Plateau, the Sphinx and the Grand Egyptian Museum with a professional Egyptologist. In Luxor, explore Karnak Temple, Luxor Temple and the Valley of the Kings before sailing south with calls at Edfu and Kom Ombo. The itinerary also includes Aswan and the temples of Abu Simbel, including the Temple of Nefertari. Unlike shorter cruise programmes, this route gives time to see both Cairo and the principal Nile Valley sites. Accommodation is arranged in a 5-star Cairo hotel and a 5-star Nile cruise cabin.
BudgetCairo
This 10-day Egypt tour combines Cairo’s ancient monuments, Alexandria’s Mediterranean setting, a Nile cruise from Luxor to Aswan and time on the Red Sea coast. Our Egyptologist guides you through the Giza Plateau, including Khufu, Khafre, Menkaure and the Sphinx, then introduces the Grand Egyptian Museum and historic Cairo. Along the Nile, visits include Karnak Temple, the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple, Edfu Temple, Kom Ombo Temple and Philae Temple. The route continues to Abu Simbel, including the temples of Ramesses II and Nefertari, before finishing in Hurghada. We arrange private air-conditioned transport rather than group bus touring, with a cruise cabin and Cairo hotel accommodation included.
MidNile (cruise route)
A 5-day, 4-night Nile cruise from Luxor to Aswan where the 2027 total solar eclipse is viewed from the sun deck on arrival day, before sailing south to Edfu, Kom Ombo and Aswan with Egyptologist-guided shore excursions.
Practical questions
Hot-air balloon over Luxor at sunrise (one of the world's most spectacular balloon sites), White Desert overnight 4×4 safari from Bahariya Oasis, Red Sea scuba diving (SS Thistlegorm wreck, Ras Mohammed National Park, Dahab Blue Hole), Mount Sinai sunrise hike, snorkeling Sataya Dolphin Reef in Marsa Alam, and camel trekking in the Eastern Desert. All are combinable with the standard cultural circuit.
Twelve to fifteen days for a serious adventure shape. You need 2–3 days for Cairo + standard circuit minimum (otherwise you've skipped the foundation), then 2 days for the White Desert overnight, 2 days for Mount Sinai or Sinai trekking, and 3–4 days for Red Sea diving. Shorter adventure shapes work – a 9-day with just the Luxor balloon + 2-day White Desert is genuinely fun – but the full sweep wants a fortnight.
Private adventure Egypt tours start around $2,400 per person for 9 days (standard circuit + Luxor balloon + 2-day White Desert at 4-star). The full 14-day adventure shape (Cairo + cruise + White Desert + Sinai trek + Red Sea diving) runs $4,200–$6,800 per person at 4-star, $7,500–$11,500 at 5-star. Dive packages (3 dives/day, dive guide, equipment) typically add $90–$140 per diver per day. International flights from the US are separate.
If you're already a certified diver: unequivocally yes – the Thistlegorm is consistently in the world top-10 wreck-dive lists, a WWII British merchant ship sunk in 1941 still loaded with motorbikes, trucks, and rifles. It's a day-trip from Sharm El Sheikh or a liveaboard from Hurghada. We arrange dive groups capped at 8 divers per guide, with surface intervals on the boat between dives 1 and 2 of the day. PADI Advanced Open Water + 30 logged dives is the typical entry bar.
October through April for the desert and Sinai segments – daytime 70–85°F, cold at night (30–40°F in the White Desert and on Mount Sinai), but doable with layers. Red Sea diving is year-round but visibility peaks September–November (20+ meters). We avoid running White Desert + Sinai trekking in June–August – daytime in the dunes hits 110°F, and the Mount Sinai summit climb starts too hot at 2am.
